LA COOP FÉDÉRÉE, PROUD SPONSOR OF CANADA’S OUTSTANDING YOUNG FARMERS COMPETITION

The Gala for the 2018 edition of Canada's Outstanding Young Farmers Competition, Quebec region will be held on August 28, at the Saint-Hyacinthe Convention Center. This major event highlights young farmers who exemplify excellence in their profession and in their community.

As a sponsor of several years, La Coop fédérée congratulates the honourees of the Quebec contest that were unveiled a few weeks ago: Jean-Philippe Côté and Julie Richer, owners of “Ferme Malaco,” Mélanie Deslandes and Martin Dion, owners of “Ferme Volailles des Cantons,” and Kristina Roarke and Philippe Laurendeau, owners of “Ferme L'Authentic.”

Note that two of the finalists, “La Ferme Malaco” and “La Ferme L'Authentic,” are members of the VIVACO cooperative group. This is not the first honour these two farms have received: “La Ferme Malaco” was a finalist at the 2013/2014 edition of La Coop’s Farm Establishment and Transfer Award competition, while “Ferme L'Authentic” was featured in an episode of “On arrive en campagne” on TVA in 2016.

La Coop fédérée is proud to help and encourage young farmers by supporting this important initiative. “This competition is an honour that not only benefits those who work in our profession and in our sector, but also society as a whole," said Ghislain Gervais, president of La Coop fédérée and honorary president of the Quebec contest.

Of the three honourees, only one duo will be selected as a finalist in the national competition, which runs from November 27 to December 2, 2018, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Agri-business Division of La Coop fédérée will be present as a national partner for the first time.
