Jean Bissonnette
Jean Bissonnette operates, with his wife Élyse Gendron, a dairy and grain farm in Saint-Polycarpe. Holding a quota of 113 kg and focusing on high-yield production, their Val-Bisson prefix is widely recognized in the Holstein genetics sector. Crop production is carried out using direct seeding on the 129 hectares under cultivation. A young partner has recently joined the ownership of the business.
A graduate in animal science from the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire, Jean has been involved over the years in numerous organizations, including the Association des jeunes ruraux du Québec, the Relève agricole, the Syndicat de gestion, and Promutuel Assurance. He has served on the board of directors of his cooperative since 2001 and held the presidency for eight years. From 2016 to 2021, he also sat on the board of the Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec and has acted as a delegate on the board of the Alliance Semex since 2016, where he has been a member of the executive committee for the past two years.
Jean served on the board of directors of La Coop Fédérée from 2011 to 2016, chairing the audit committee during that time. He also successfully completed training in corporate governance (ASC) at the Université Laval. He has returned to the board of directors of Sollio Cooperative Group since February 2019. He chaired the IT committees of SGC and Olymel for four years and has served as vice-chair of the board of SGC and Olybro for the past three years.
