Dairy, field crop and maple syrup producer
Jean-Philippe Côté is a dairy, field crop and maple syrup producer in Magog, in the Eastern Townships. With his wife Julie, he runs a herd of 90 dairy cows and produces 120 kilos. In addition, they cultivate 200 hectares of corn, soybeans and wheat, as well as crops used to feed the herd. The company also produces maple syrup with its 3500 taps.
After graduating from the Cégep de Victoriaville in 2004 with a diploma in farm management, he worked as a consultant at La Coop Prévert for two years before returning to the third generation family farm. Upon his return to the business, he became a director of La Coop des Cantons, for which he served for 13 years, including 7 years as president. Since the merger of the latter with Vivaco, he has joined its board of directors. Jean-Philippe is also an observer on the board of directors of the Sollio-Vivaco agricultural joint venture. Mr. Côté is involved in the UPA of his region on the base union and with the next generation of farmers, as well as in the CAB Estrie.
