Filgo-Sonic acquires Bell-Gaz ltée and Lanaudière inc.

Sainte-Marie, May 11, 2017- Groupe Filgo-Sonic, leader in energy distribution in Quebec, has acquired the assets of the family-owned business Bell-Gaz ltée, one of the majors regarding the sale and delivery of propane gas in Quebec, and those of Compagnie du chemin de fer Lanaudière inc. This acquisition, completed on Friday, May 5th, takes place while continuing the operations of Bell-Gaz ltée with the Belleville family. With this transaction, Groupe Filgo-Sonic wants to get closer to its customers of the Lanaudière region and increase the value of its services, while benefiting from the expertise of Bell-Gaz ltée’s teams.

“We are proud to welcome the teams of Bell-Gaz ltée and Compagnie du chemin de fer Lanaudière inc. with whom we share common values: we are two Quebec family businesses committed to providing the best services to our customers,” says Michel Lehoux, CEO of Groupe Filgo-Sonic. “This acquisition is part of Groupe Filgo-Sonic’s desire to become the largest energy distributor in Eastern Canada and to be recognized as the gold standard for customer experience.“

“Combining our strengths with Groupe Filgo-Sonic will be beneficial to our customers,” says Robert Belleville, son of the founder of Bell-Gaz ltée. “This new step in the life of our company will allow us to operate on a larger territory and meet all of our customers’ energy needs, with the addition of fuels and lubricants to our offer.”

Bell-Gaz ltée and Compagnie du chemin de fer Lanaudière inc. will continue their operations as they are currently doing and contact points will remain the same. In the future, Groupe Filgo-Sonic foresees additional job creation at Bell-Gaz ltée to diversify its activities.

Founded in 1963 by Hervé Belleville in Saint-Félix-de-Valois, in the Lanaudière region, Bell-Gaz ltée employs over 40 people and has four branches with offices, warehouses and reserve stations. The company supply wholesale and retail propane gas products to more than 18,000 customers, and independent distributors throughout Quebec. Bell-Gaz ltée is recognized for the quality of its teams and its personalized approach. Groupe Filgo-Sonic also acquired Compagnie du chemin de fer Lanaudière inc (CFL), which was established by Bell-Gaz ltée in 1992. CFL ensures the transportation, storage, and unloading of propane gas. Covering a 17-kilometre distance in the Lanaudière region between Joliette and Saint-Félix-de-Valois, the CFL network includes transhipment sites. The development prospects arising from the acquisition of railway infrastructure allow the group to be highly competitive in the market and to ensure the supply of propane gas in all circumstances.
